When Kevin Plank looks out across the Inner Harbor from his Under Armouroffice he will no longer see a deteriorating symbol of Baltimore’s past, but rather a luxury hotel that is the end product of more than two years of work from his own Sagamore Development Co.
The Sagamore Pendry Baltimore hotel opened Monday and Plank, Under Armour’s CEO, will officially cut the ribbon Tuesday morning.

The Baltimore Business Journal got an exclusive first look at the finished Fells Point property on Monday, which turned the 103-year-old Rec Pier into a 128-room upscale hotel.
Plank purchased the property for $3.4 million and Sagamore Development broke ground on the $60 million project in spring 2015. The hope was to have the hotel open by late 2016, but the opening date was eventually pushed back into 2017.
A stay at the hotel will cost about $380 a night for the superior courtyard king guest room, the cheapest option available. The prices go up depending on time of the year, so the same room costs about $500 a night over an October weekend. Suites can go for thousands of dollars a night depending on time of year.
In total, the hotel offers seven different room types with king or queen beds and five different suite options. The 1,200-square-foot governor harbor suite and the 1,400-square foot presidential harbor suite cannot be booked online.
The Sagamore Pendry also offers a number of event and meeting spaces. The 4,565-square-foot Sagamore Ballroom situated on the top floor of the head house could cost between $25,000 and $60,000 for a wedding or social event, varying with the number of guests, package selection and the time of year.
The ballroom offers seating for between 150-220 people and galas with a standing reception can host between 300-400 people.
The hotel also has two harbor-side private event spaces that are about 550 square feet. Called the Price and Parsons rooms, the meeting space can be rented for between $2,500 and $10,000.
As far as food and drink go, the hotel partnered with James Beard Award-winning chef Andrew Carmellini out of New York to open the Rec Pier Chophouse and the Cannon Room whiskey bar.
As part of the partnership, Carmellini along with his NoHo Hospitality Group partners Josh Pickard and Luke Ostrom, will be helping to establish the food and drink programs in the main dining room, the private dining room, in the whiskey bar, at the outdoor pool bar and grill, in the Sagamore Ballroom and for in-room dining.
The outdoor pool overlooks the Inner Harbor and gives guests a view of Under Armour’s headquarters in Locust Point.
The hotel will be managed by Montage Hotels & Resorts, out of California, as part of its Pendry brand. The Sagamore Pendry Baltimore is the first and only Pendry brand hotel on the East Coast.
